About Us
The Tate family originally bore the name Teti, tracing their roots back to Torricella Peligina in the Chieti province of Abruzzo, Italy. Our great-grandfather often proclaimed that the people of Abruzzo were the “purest Italians,” as conquering armies could never reach their women, who remained hidden in the mountains. Our great-grandmother hailed from Calabria, and her cherished recipes ignited our grandfather’s passion for cooking. These culinary treasures have been lovingly passed down and are now offered to you.
Though Barb and Skip are no longer with us, their delectable recipes and cooking techniques remain integral to our daily operations at Luigi’s, allowing us to bring you authentic Italian flavors.
We proudly operate two brick-and-mortar locations in Clymer: Luigi’s Ristorante and Luigi’s Pizzeria, both of which serve mouthwatering, hand-crafted dishes derived from our grandparents’ recipes. Additionally, we have two sister establishments in DuBois—Luigi’s Ristorante and Catering—and in Washington—Luigi’s Ristorante and Catering. Each location provides full-service dining, family-style takeout, and catering for events of all kinds.
Through our family recipes and enduring values, Luigi’s Ristorante pays homage to our heritage, cultural traditions, and commitment to authenticity. As the next generation of the Tate family assumes ownership roles in all locations, we remain dedicated to upholding our high standards of service and genuine Italian flavors, continuing to serve our loyal customers throughout the wider region.
